Contradiction: The Samsung Galaxy S5 mini takes on the HTC One mini 2

Which one is best between Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC one mini 2 ?

The just-announced Samsung Galaxy S5 mini looks to be a great phone for those who want a smaller screen and smaller price tag than the full-blown Samsung Galaxy S5. How does it stack up against the other great mini, the HTC One mini 2?

Screen: Both devices have the same sized screen, at 4.5 inches. And they've also got the same resolution at 1280 by 720 pixel. They use different screen technology, with the Samsung device using Super AMOLED, and the HTC using Super LCD2. So this one's a tie.

Processor: On paper the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini wins, by dint of its quad-core 1.4 Ghz processor, versus the 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor. But lets face it -- that .2 Ghz difference will mean nothing in real life. So once again, I'll have to call this one a tie.

Camera: The HTC phone comes out on top here, with a 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. Samsung's resolutions are inferior: 8 megapixels on the back camera and 2.1 megapixels on the front one.
RAM: The Galaxy S5 mini noses out the HTC device here, with 1.5 GB of RAM to the HTC's 1GB. That .5 GB extra will make a difference, so the benefit is real.
Storage: This is essentially a tie, with both phones coming with 16 GB of built-in storage. Both have microSD slots, with the HTC handling cards up to 128 GB, and the Galaxy capable of dealing with cards 64 GB. So only the few people who need massive amounts of storage will need to opt for the HTC.
Extras: Here's where the Galaxy S5 mini is a very clear winner. Like its big brother, it's water-resistant, and comes with a heart rate monitor and fingerprint scanner. The HTC comes with...nothing.
Bottom line: So which to choose? There's not much of a dramatic difference. Those who care about camera resolution and a lot of extra storage will want the HTC. Those who want a little bit of extra RAM or lots of extras should opt for the Galaxy S5 mini.
